The building of a winning team
As no model of this concept existed, venturing into the unknown of Ultra-Accessibility posed interesting challenges. The goal was to create an experience that would be inclusive and entertaining for everyone. How was the concept going to be incorporated into a theme park that appealed to both individuals with special needs and the community in general? It required a dynamic team of individuals with the right blend of compassion and creativity to turn one man’s vision into a reality.
Hartman assembled a focus group that spent countless hours interviewing special educators, parents of special needs children, physical therapists and other medical experts. Additionally, they visited numerous well-known national theme parks to observe how visitors with special needs were accommodated. The limitations observed were painfully obvious and magnified the importance of their mission. At the conclusion of two years of comprehensive research, the group had reached their goal. They now had a clear and concise course of action.
